Pastor Chris Oyakilome - A Spirit Of Prayer

Topic: A Spirit Of Prayer [Sunday, October 18th]
Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
There’s such a thing as a “spirit of prayer”; and by this I’m not describing necessarily a certain angel or spirit whose name is called “prayer”; no. I’m talking about when the Holy Spirit brings an overwhelming atmosphere and influence of prayer into your life such that the urge and need to pray is so uncontrollable that you can’t but pray. That unction rests on you and influences you over a period of time. Prayer becomes all that you think about, and that influence can stay on you for months, a year, or even longer.

This isn’t just something that happens when God chooses to; it’s what you invite, by desire. The Bible says He satisfies the thirsty soul (Psalm 107:9). So, when you’re thirsty for Him, and you begin that fellowship of prayer, it won’t be long before that “spirit of prayer” comes on you, creating a passion and an overwhelming urge for intercession in you. You’d find that you’re constantly praying. Every now and then, the Spirit will draw your heart to His thinking—His motivations, visions, plans and purpose—expressing Himself through you in prayer. How important that is!
During the period that the Holy Spirit does this in you and through you, you’ll just know that something is about to be unleashed; something is about to be birthed. Glory to God! So, invite that spirit of prayer by plunging yourself into Him; by your strong desire; and effect changes in your life, and in the lives of others.
PRAYER
Dear Lord, I open my heart to you today, to your grace and your love, in fellowship! I trust you to guide and lead me to excel in all things, in faith, knowledge, wisdom, and in all earnestness, and in my love for you, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Further Study: || Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; ||

|| Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. ||
|| Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. ||
